Charles Gribble is a partner at Gribble, Boles, Stewart & Witosky with more than 45 years of experience in the practice of law. Mr. Gribble, a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated attorney, has served as chair of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee on three separate occasions. Mr. Gribble focuses his practice on all aspects of employment-related litigation and counseling. He advises employee organizations and employers on employment issues, and develops and delivers training sessions on pursuing and avoiding discrimination claims. Mr. Gribble has experience negotiating labor contracts, representing clients in arbitration, and assisting businesses in developing comprehensive employment manuals and best practices for employment matters.
Mr. Gribble’s trial experience includes actions related to non-competition agreements, benefits-related claims, discrimination (age, gender, disability, and sexual harassment), wrongful termination, wage-and-hour disputes, and pension claims. Mr. Gribble regularly appears before administrative agencies in District Court. He has argued more than 75 cases before the Iowa Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.
Mr. Gribble is a frequent lecturer in labor and employment law and has conducted numerous seminars for statewide and national organizations, including the Iowa State Bar Association and the National Business Institute. Mr. Gribble presents annually to state and local organizations on cases impacting public employees in all aspects of their employment including retirement. Mr. Gribble has served as an adjunct professor in tribal law at Drake Law School and made numerous presentations to the students of Drake Law’s employment and labor law classes.

Matthew Boles is a partner at Gribble, Boles, Stewart & Witosky with more than 30 years of experience in the practice of law.
Matt has represented countless families whose lives have been tragically changed because of catastrophic injuries from workplace injuries, automobile accidents, boating accidents and from medical and dental malpractice. Matt’s expertise is complex wrongful death litigation including 10 successful wrongful death settlements in the last 2 years alone.
In 2017, Matt and partner Adam Witosky earned one of the Top 100 settlements in the United States in a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the victim’s family. The $9 million dollar settlement was the 2nd largest settlement in Missouri history for a wrongful death. Matt is admitted to practice in state courts throughout Iowa, as well as federal trial and appeals courts serving the state of Iowa.
Matt has also represented the victims and their families in automobile and workplace injury cases that require a complete understanding of the full extent of underlying law and the nature of the injuries to ensure full compensation. Christopher Stewart, a partner at Gribble, Boles, Stewart, and Witosky, grew up in Runnells, Iowa, and graduated from Southeast Polk High School. After high school, Chris attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a B.A. in History, Political Science, and Geography. While at UNI, Chris was active in Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity serving as chapter President. Chris graduated from Drake University Law School with a certificate in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. During his time at Drake Law, Chris participated in the Criminal Defense Clinic and was awarded the M. Gene Blackburn award, an award is given to the best brief submitted during the Drake University Law School Supreme Court Day Competition.
Chris has been nationally recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 criminal defense attorneys in the State of Iowa. Chris has also been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for his work in the employment and labor law sector.
Chris lives in Des Moines with his wife, Sarah, and their dog, Howie. In his free time, Chris enjoys golfing, movies, traveling, and volunteering for the Blue Ribbon Foundation and Drake Relays.

Adam Witosky is a native of Des Moines, IA, attending Roosevelt High School and Central Academy. He attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where he was an active member and officer of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Delta Theta Chapter, graduating in 2004 with a Creative Writing degree. After working a series of retail and warehousing jobs, he decided attending law school was the easier option. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2010. Adam is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Adam practices primarily in the areas of civil rights, with a focus on 42 U.S.C. §1983 litigation; personal injury and wrongful death; and appellate law, having prepared briefs in over 50 cases, both State and Federal.
Adam is a trained mediator. Combined with over a decade of experience in complex State and Federal litigation, he is available to assist litigants in bringing their cases to a mutually beneficial resolution.
Adam currently lives in West Des Moines with his wife and son. He enjoys movies (new and classic), music, video games, ball room dancing, golf, and literature.

Heidi Miller is an associate at Gribble, Boles, Stewart & Witosky. Ms. Miller focuses her practice in the areas of family law, criminal defense and juvenile law. Ms. Miller’s handles custody and divorce cases during all stages of the proceedings, from cases that are agreed upon to highly contested cases involving custody and financial matters. Additionally, Ms. Miller handles juvenile guardianships, private termination of parental rights cases, Child in Need of Assistance cases and child abuse assessment appeals. Finally, Ms. Miller represents individuals in criminal cases from traffic tickets all the way to Class A and B felony-level offenses.
Ms. Miller is a trained mediator with experience in family law-related matters (custody, visitation, child support, financial issues, etc.). In addition to court-ordered mediations, she also provides support in cases before they have been filed and after they have been resolved if issues arise. She conducts mediations in-person and via Zoom.
Ms. Miller was born and raised in Des Moines. She graduated from Des Moines North High School in 2006. In 2010, she graduated magna cum laude from Grand View University, with a degree in Business Administration. Following undergrad, Heidi went on to Drake University Law School, where she graduated with honors in December 2013. During her time at Drake University Law School, she spent two semesters participating in the Criminal Defense Clinic representing clients charged with offenses ranging from serious misdemeanors or Class B felonies.

Jane White is an associate at Gribble, Boles, Stewart and Witosky. Ms. White was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, where she graduated from Bolylan High School. She went on to receive her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1987 and her J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1991. Ms. White has over 25 years of experience and has used her litigation skills as a prosecutor, as an advocate for victims of abuse in the non-profit setting, and in private practice on a wide variety of legal matters. She is certified in mediation and collaborative law, and her current practice focuses primarily on criminal defense, family law, juvenile and appellate work. She also handles matters in guardianships for dependent adults and children, as well as personal injury matters. She has been invited to speak at various trainings put on by the State Public Defender.
Ms. White lives in Johnston, Iowa and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her husband boating, golfing, and travelling. She has three grown children.

Konnor Hodges is an associate at Gribble, Boles, Stewart & Witosky. Konnor grew up in Altoona, Iowa, and graduated from Southeast Polk High school. After high school, Konnor Attended Iowa State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Iowa State, Konnor was active in the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity serving as chapter President. Konnor then graduated from Drake University Law School. During his time at Drake Law, Konnor participated in the Criminal Defense Clinic.
Konnor lives in Pleasant Hill with his girlfriend, Emily, and their two dogs. In his free time, Konnor enjoys golfing, being outdoors, and cycling. He also enjoys volunteering, most notably when he cycled over 4,000 miles for the Journey of Hope. During this trip, his team raised over $100,000 for people with disabilities.

Jim Cossitt is Of Counsel at GBSW and brings over 35 years of highly specialized bankruptcy, insolvency, workouts, debtor/creditor, and commercial law and litigation experience to the GBSW capabilities. Jim practiced in Iowa from 1986 – to 1995, with the FDIC and in private practice in Ames. During those years, he served as a chapter 7 trustee based in Fort Dodge. For 26 years he maintained an office in Kalispell, Montana, in the Flathead Valley, serving all of NW Montana. In May 2021 he joined GBSW in Des Moines and maintains a specialized and limited practice serving the entire state of Iowa.
Mr. Cossitt’s core areas of expertise are bankruptcy and workouts for small and medium-sized businesses and agricultural operations.
